Wallace Island Aug. 24-27 2008

On Aug. 24th we arrive at Princess Cove on Wallace Island. This turns out to be our favorite of all the Gulf Islands because of its' spectacular beauty, interesting history, plentiful tide pools, and the kid friendly hiking. We especially enjoy exploring the the remains and cabins of the old Wallace Island resort that operated in the 1950's and 60's that a young couple had started with virtually no outside help and chronicled their joys and hardships in the book "Once Upon An Island".

The old resort lounge has been turned into a testament to all the cruisers that have visited here in recent years. Each boat leaves their identity and artful decorations on a piece of driftwood that is hung from the ceiling of the building among the forest of creative messages already hung there.
